Move array from DL380 G8 to G9 and keep datastorage for vmWare

Hi,

I want to move and keep existing Raid5 datastorgae for vmWare from DL380G8 (P420i) to DL380G9 (P440ar).

Is that possible? Both controllers are embedded (onboard).

On new G9 server, I will install new vmWare on SD-Card and need to add the existing Raid5 datastorage from old server.

Hello,

The HPE Smart Array Controllers are designed such that, all the disks in the array can be safely removed from the server and installed in another server, in the same drive posistions and the RAID information will be reconstructed by the Smart Array controller on the other server automatically and there is no loss of data. 

Now, before this is done, please have complete backup just in case this exercise is a failure and are required to start afresh.
