Network Connection

Hello, friends. I have a ProLiant ML350 Gen10 server, and the four built-in network ports are not working; the LED does not turn on either. I have tried everything—checking the BIOS settings, static IP and DHCP, cabling, router, permissions, drivers, and operating systems (Windows, Linux), but without success. All four ports show as disconnected. I connected a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, and it didn’t work either. I tested with another identical server, and it has the same issue. As I mentioned before, the cabling works fine when connected directly to my laptop, but when I plug it into the server, it doesn’t work.

Any experts in this forum or anyone who has experienced the same issue, I would appreciate your suggestions.

Re: Network Connection

Hello @Mariog123 ,

On Certain HPE servers, the network adapters will not connect to a 100Mb switch. When this occurs, the ports of the network adapter may display as disconnected in the Operating System.

For more information, please refer to this link.

Thanks,
Sahana S

Re: Network Connection

Hi @Mariog123
I agree with @Sahana_S . Along with that, there may the following possibilities.
1) Incompatible SFP : If the network card is having incompatible SFP.
2) Port down : There may be a chance of port is down from source (ex. from switch)
3) Lower firmware version : Update the System firmwares along with all the components using SPP.
4) Loose connection : If the network card is recently added or system is moved from one to other place, there may be a chance of loose connection. Please reseat the network card once again and observe if any wear and tear.
5) Network cable : Network cable might to faulty. Please replace.
6) Incompatible components/devices installed: if any components installed recently, please remove and try booting.
7) Observe the status : please check the iLO logs (if configured), card status in iLO, BIOS etc. so that if the card or slot is disabled, then it won't be detected.
At last, run the system with minimum device configuration : Remove all additional components like add on card, DIMMs, disks etc. make ready the system with minimum hardware. Add devices one by one till you get culprit for this network issue.

If not resolved, please reply with network card model, system even logs about network, BIOS screen shot about network card.
I hope, you get the solution by referring the steps mentioned in this my post. If yes, please give Kudos and mark my post as Accepted solutions.
