network not present
i put linux on a single processor proliant 800. (pentium pro 180Mhz). it cannot ping any machines in the network, no machines can ping it. what is the correct network driver i need to use ? options that need to be passed to it ? are there settings in the network 'card' bios that need to be changed ? (an old 3com card i used once, had to be put into server mode in order to work with linux, is this the same ?)

Re: network not present
problem solved. found a comment in and old news post that the 'tlan' driver for netflex 'cards' in linux distributions is very flakey becuase it has not been 'finished'. so put in a 3com network card, used driver for it. now i can see all machines in the network, ping anywhere i like, etc !
