NMI host bus parity error

The server crashed and had this in the log on reboot: I need to pin the problem down before arranging a shutdown> What could be the cause please??
Event ID 4191....
The Compaq System Management Driver has detected that the system encountered a Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI) during the previous Windows NT session. The NMI source was: Uncorrectable host bus data parity error.

Re: NMI host bus parity error

nmi is some sort of memory or parity error...things to check:
memory ( swap out and test)
array controllers (update to latest firmware)
cabling (can cause parity errors is cabling is frayed or bent pins)
We are here for a good time, not a long time!

Re: NMI host bus parity error

Hello, I am experiencing the same problem with our Proliant 8500. Have you solved the problem? If so, could you please tell me how?

Thank you

Re: NMI host bus parity error

I am too having the same issue with one of my Proliant 8500's. Happened a few days after updating the HP Support Paq to version 7.0 I have 2 emulex 8000 cards and use the local array controller to mirror 2 36GB drives and stripe 2 146GB drives. It has 8GB of RAM. I have had this occur 4 times today, sometimes not ever getting windows fully loaded.. causing repeated bootup tries. I also received a bluescreen with the bug check of STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005,0xDD41D116,0x00000000,0x00740061)
