NTDETECT FAILED on boot up

My server will not boot, it goes through the Memory test and spins up the discs then after the message Inspecting your computers hardware configuration it throws up this message

Disk I/O error: Status = 000054AD
NTDETECT FAILED

All I'm trying to do is boot to a Win2k server STD CD to load the OS

Is there a SmartStart CD for this model?
Any ideas?
