OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
Hello Everyone
I am writing to ask for a solution as I am facing a problem while installing the OS on my DL385 G10+ v2 server.
The problem I am facing is that when installing the OS, I get the message "Unable to install required files, please make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code:0x800703EE" and the installation fails.
I did not try to install from Intelligent Provisioning because the server controller is using an MR series controller and I know that Intelligent Provisioning does not support installing volumes created with that controller.
I entered the F11 boot menu, selected odd to install, and tried to install.
No matter what OS version (server 2016, 2019, 2022), I get the same error message.
I decided to do three tests
First, I tried to install using an IODD (virtual ODD) and got the error message.
Second, I tried to install with the odd that is installed on the server and the server 2022 dvd that I purchased from HPE. The same error message occurs
I created the iso file used for the third IODD as a boot USB with RUFUS and tested it. It installs fine.
I have a total of 4 identical servers and they all get the same error message when installing Windows.
On the third test, I realized that creating a boot USB solved the problem. However, I have a client that does not allow USB and must install from a CD or DVD.
I want to solve this problem.

Hello,
By IODD , are you referring to ILO Virtual Media ?

Re: OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
It is not an ILO virtual media.
An IODD is a device that recognizes an ISO file and uses it as a virtual ODD.
See http://en.iodd.kr/wiki/index.php/IODD-2541
I have not attempted to install an OS with ILO virtual media because it requires an additional PC or laptop to connect to the ILO and the network transfer speed is slow.
Even if the installation is fine with ILO virtual media, some customers bring in a laptop and have to format it when they leave, and most customers cannot enter the server room except for authorized equipment due to security. (USB memory or HDD, LAN cable, USB to LAN converter. Not allowed.) Therefore, if USB is not available, you must install using DVD, even if it is slower.

Re: OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
Hello,
We would suggest you to please use ILO Virtual Mount option to mount the ISO image.
as we would not be able to comment on the third party device.

Re: OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
I'm not writing to ask for a simple workaround like that.
It's not a problem at all on servers with Intel CPUs
But on machines with AMD CPUs, it's a problem.
Let me reiterate an important point.
I want to install the OS from a DVD

Re: OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
Hello,
I understand , however as mentioned earlier , the Device you are using is not been tested By HPE hence it is not recommended.
Please create a repository with iso Image and use ILO Virtual Mount option to mount the ISO image.

Re: OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
You don't understand at all.
Why would I not use a DVD ROM when I can purchase a DVD ROM and Windows server 2022 OEM DVD with my HPE server purchase?
Don't force me to mount Ilo virtual images

Re: OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
It seems to me that the error message you are receiving during OS installation on your DL385 G10+ v2 server is related to a missing or corrupted installation file. You have already tried to install the OS from different sources but still faced the same error.
Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Check the installation media: Make sure the installation media is not damaged or corrupted. You can try to use a different DVD or download the OS image from the official website.
Check the hardware: Verify that all hardware components are functioning correctly, including the DVD drive, cables, and connectors.
Update firmware and drivers: Make sure that the server's firmware and drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest firmware and drivers from the HPE website.
Disable Secure Boot: Try to disable Secure Boot from the BIOS settings and see if that resolves the issue.
Change the boot order: Change the boot order in the BIOS settings and try to boot from the DVD again.
Try a different installation method: If all else fails, you can try a different installation method such as using a USB drive or network boot.
If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact HPE support for further assistance. They may be able to provide you with additional troubleshooting steps or replace any faulty hardware components.
Hope this info helps you! Let me know....

Re: OS installation issues on dl385 G10+ v2
The same thing happened when I tried a different OS DVD.
I was out of town last week and didn't get to test further.
The machine was delivered to the customer last week, so again, no further testing was possible.
The next time I order a DL380 Gen10 Plus v2, I will test it again.
Thanks
