POST Error: 1720-S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure

Hi All,

i got this error message on my HP DL380 G6 server for a "new" DG146BB976 Harddisk.

i bought this from a friend of my who had this disk in stock for his own server.

when i put this disk in my server i immediatly got the amber led flashing and the

error during boot.
but when i create a new single disk raid 0 set and format the disk (slow format) everything turns out to be okay.
Even the Amber led turns green but the error persist on the server during boot.

is there a way to get rid of that smart error?

Re: POST Error: 1720-S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure

Hi,

Checklist:

Is this drive compatible with other drives in the server?

Is this drive compatible with the smart array controller in the server?

Is there any firmware issues/conflicts with the drive and smart array controller?

1720-Slot X Drive Array - S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive(s) Detect imminent failure
Do not replace drive unless all other drives in the array are online! Back up data before replacing drive(s) if using RAID 0.

Possible Cause: A hard drive SMART predictive failure condition is detected. It may fail at some time in the future.
Action items:
• If this drive is part of a non-fault-tolerant configuration, back up all data before replacing the drive and restore all data afterward.
• If this drive is part of a fault-tolerant configuration, do not replace this drive unless all other drives in the array are online.

Thank You!
