Hi,
I have a HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8 server with OS Version "Windows Server 2008 R2". The server was rebooted unexpectedly. HP ProLiant Integrated Management Log (IML) Viewer contains the following error:
POST Error: 1770 - Slot X Drive Array - Disk Drive Firmware Update Rcommended
System log contains the following info:
05/03/2020 12:07:34 24687 4 Cissesrv SYSTEM A firmware update is needed for the physical drive with product ID EG0300FBDBR connected to array controller P420i [Embedded].
The recommended minimum firmware revision should be HPD7.
05/03/2020 12:07:02 6008 1 EventLog SYSTEM The previous system shutdown at 12:03:10 PM on ?5/?3/?2020 was unexpected.
05/03/2020 12:06:33 41 1 Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power SYSTEM The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
The current Smart Array P420i in Slot 0 (Embedded) Firmware Version is v8.32. Could you please explain more about this post error 1770 and what can be done to avoid this error?
Regards,
Peggy

SolutionHi Peggy ,
The reason for the error message is due to the old Disk firmware firmware version .
Kindly refer the following HPE Document and update the Disk firmware .
https://techlibrary.hpe.com/docs/iss/shared/gen9/error/Advanced/Content/247050.htm
According to your update , I understand that the Smart Array P420i controller is running with the latest firmware ; That is 8.32.
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_71b2939cd1d84aada5afece82b#tab-history
However , it is not mentioned the current firmware version of the Hard Disk ( Model =EG0300FBDBR )
So kindly update the Disk firmware to a minimum supported level (that is HPD7 ) .
The firmware is available in the following link ;
