problem Emulex LP9002L-DL580 G2

We have following problem; we have a Emulex LP9002L (firmware 3.91a3) installed in a DL580G2. When trying to install with the smart start 6.40 we have each time following error "No boot controller. Emulex Corporation unknown device f900". Can anyone help please?

How and to what is the HBA attached? What OS are you trying to install?

It is attached to a Network Appliance system Qlogic 2312 and we are trying to install Windows 2003.

You can't use SmartStart. Just boot off of the 2003 cd, it contains the necessary driver.

Unless I'm mistaken When I've installed HBA's in the past I thought they had to be disconnected until installed, server shut down and then connected to the storage system ??

The other thing would be to go into the bios and make sure that the array controller is set to boot.. Try using the software that came with the LP9000 to install after loading the os..
