Re: Problems detecting the scsi hard disk

First check the Compaq OS compatibility list at this at this web address.

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/os-support-matrix-310.pdf

The Solaris OS is not certified for the Proliant 400 model. The hardware is not compatible with the Solaris OS. You need to be installing the OS on a system model that has been tested and certified for the version of Solaris you are using.

By the way, why are you installing a Solaris driver for a SCSI controller, when you have installed an IDE hard drive. The IDE hard drive is using the integrated IDE interface and controller NOT the SCSI controller. If nothing is connected to the SCSI controller you do not need to install any SCSI driver into the OS.

You must run the Compaq system configuration program and set the boot controller order. The IDE controller must be first if the booting hard drive is connected to the IDE interface. Save the new hardware configuration to CMOS. See this web page for information on using the Solaris OS on Compaq systems.
