Proliant 3000 and windows2003 showing 1 processor

I have got a proliant 3000 with 2 PII 300 and at startup it shows both processors. But under windows it only shows one. It has setup the machine as a non-acpi multiprocessor machine but only shows the one processor. Any help or advise would be much appreciated. I have tried to setup the machine as an acpi multiprocess but all that happens when i do this is that when installing windows 2003 the machine crashes during setup. I have updated the bios to the latest version.

Hello Peter,
Please run the latest system configuration via SP19619. Which is downloadable from the following link:

Also make sure that in the System BIOS your OS shows whatever you have.

I was disappointed to find this also. Windows 2003 disables older Pentium pro processors upon install. The only way (per Microsoft) to resolve is to upgrade the CPUs. I was fully loaded and had to re-format going back to 2000 server for SMP.

As you say David looks like i will have to stick with windows 2000 as 2003 does not supoprt this board for what I have seen so far :(

Okay just tried running the windows 2003 compatability and check and it say that my multiconfig processors will only run as 1 :(
