ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 cant find new NVME drives
Hi!
Product No: P55251-B21 | Model: DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 | Controller: MR416i-a a Gen10 Plus
New server DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 cant find new NVME drives Samsung PM9A3 U.2. Only SAS\SATA drives work.
What could be the problem?
U.2 NVMe drives, unfortunately, don’t work in U.3 because the data lane pin-out doesn’t match. However, SFF-TA-1001 seems to be the key—it sets out what is needed for U.3 drives to work in U.3 while keeping the backward compatibility. Meaning U.3 drives work in both U.2 and U.3. ( https://quarch.com/news/what-you-need-know-about-u3/ )
In QuickSpecs HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 server
Chassis Types
• 4 LFF SAS/SATA, with optional Optical Drive options
• 8 SFF SAS/SATA, with optional 2SFF SAS/SATA or 2 NVMe and Optical Drive options
• 8 SFF NVMe U.2/U.3, with optional 2SFF SAS/SATA or 2 NVMe and Optical Drive options

Re: ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 cant find new NVME drives
Hello,
One aspect to check is the internal cabling. Please refer to section "Storage controller cabling" of the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 Server Maintenance and Service Guide for more information.

Re: ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 cant find new NVME drives
I have that variant with 2 cabling - P39201-001, P39200-001
Do I understand correctly that 8 SFF x2 NVMe uses only 2 lines PCI-e ? While SSD PM9A3 requires 4 ?
I need get P39187-001, P39188-001 8 SFF x4 NVMe drive controller cabling ?

Re: ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 cant find new NVME drives
Please refer to the service and maintenance guide to find the correct cabling part numbers which are compatible:-
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00112511en_us&page=GUID-9266EAF4-4012-4938-9F81-B597810154FA.html
Refer to the topic Storage cabling which shows the correct part numbers along with the diagram.

Re: ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 cant find new NVME drives
We cannot connect half of the backplane cable to one controller and rest to the systemboard. This has to be check as per the cabling guide shared with you earlier on the thread. Also the part numbers shared by you are cable part number however the spare part numbers are listed on the extremet right table.
8 SFF drive onboard NVMe cables | P39176-001 | P40852-001 |
P39177-001 | ||
P39178-001 | ||
P39179-001 | ||
8 SFF x4 NVMe drive to the tri–mode type–a Gen10 Plus controller cables | P39187-001 | P40854-001 |
P39188-001 |
