Hi,
Could anyone tell me how to disable the Virtual Install Disk (VID) on GEN10 ProLiants please?
I am aware of how to do this on previous GEN but all the informaiton for GEN10 is either impossible to find or is incorrect. I have been into System Configuration>System Options>USB Options but this setting is not present. Nor can I find this setting in other areas of the BIOS.
Thanks
Alex

SolutionThere is an advisory saying:
"Title: Customer Notice: HPE ProLiant Gen9 and Gen10 Servers - The Virtual Install Disk (VID) Option Has Been Removed From BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU)"
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ProLiant DL360 GEN10 VID
That is strange as the VID disk is present in Windows and I am unable to remove it or hide it. It is not possible to change drive letter (remove) or delete the partition, although I havent tried this too aggressively yet.
Could it be possible that this is a remenant from old Intelligent Provisioning present on the ROM? I have subsequently built a 2nd GEN10 server using a downloaded IP ISO and the VID is not present.
Thanks
Alex

Re: ProLiant DL360 GEN10 VID
Not sure of the Firmware version; both servers have been boxed up ready to be shipped to the Datacenter.
SPP was run fully with an up to date ISO before any other tasks though.
I guess I will either have to leave the VID in place or arrange to rebuild the server at another time.
Thanks for your help Torsten :)

Re: ProLiant DL360 GEN10 VID
Are you using an SD Card in the server? If NOT, whenever you have a chance, can you try to disable the SD Card option in the BIOS and check if it makes any difference.
Regards..!!

Re: ProLiant DL360 GEN10 VID
Have same.
For me, YES there is a 8GB SD (USB) Inside, because in Future this will be a ESX Server.
I can not remove the Drive Letters in Windows GUI, but Diskpart did the Job:
c:\> diskpart (admin cmd)
list volume
select volume x
remove all
...

Re: ProLiant DL360 GEN10 VID
Just had this issue on a DL380 Gen10 and fixed it by downgrading the BIOS to v1.02, which has the option to enable/disable VID.
F9 on POST then System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > System Options > USB Options > Virtual Install Disk
Disabled VID, Save & Re-booted to Windows Server and the VID drive has gone.
Upgrading BIOS back to 1.20 now.

Re: ProLiant DL360 GEN10 VID
When I downgrade to an older BIOS version, I get the "275 - unsupported processor" warning and the system is "halted"
Any ideas?

Re: ProLiant DL360 GEN10 VID
I went with RBSU reset to defaults , seems like it fixed the issue with VID .
Thank you
