I have to backfitting a second Processor in the DL380 G2. This Processor is the right from Compaq.
What have I to consider?
Many Thanks!
Thorsten

Solution
Hello Thorsten,
Are you speaking in regards to what you have to do to the Operating system or the hardware?
As for hardware you'll want one of these kits:
Pentium III P1400-512KB Processor Option Kit
201099-B21
Pentium III P1266-512KB Processor Option Kit
201098-B21
Pentium III P1133-512KB Processor Option Kit
201097-B21
This includes all the hardware you need to make a second CPU work. Simply instal the Processor with heatsink, and the PPM (power module) and that's about it.
As for software, assuming you're running Windows, there really isn't much config, really nothing. The system will just reboot with a multiprocessor HAL and that's about it.
Please post back if you are looking for additional info.
Chris

Re: ProLiant DL380 G2 backfitting of a second processor
Hello Chris,
thanks for your answer.
I bought a used Processor Pentium III P1133-512KB with Headsink and Powermodule.
This is the right for this Server (also P1133MHz).
As System I have a Linux for the ESX. This is a testing machine, I can clear it and make a new one.
I thougt, I would need more Options, Software etc. for it. Thanks a lot!
