this is the first time I have a new P410 Raidcontroller. In the configurationmenu (F8) there are two new points I didn`t know.
Manage license: What is it good for and when do I need a license and whom I get it from?
In the Raidset configuration menu: Parity group
What is this good for and do I have to use it?
Thanks!

SolutionSee the user manual:
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00729544/c00729544.pdf
Page 11 is about registering a license in ORCA.
page 80 and 96 and 97 for parity group.
Only used in Raid 50 and 60
See the quickspecs for the cnotroller about what is included in the p410 controller:

Note:
"A license key, a minimum of 256MB cache, and battery kit or flash backed write cache is required to enable features. For more information go to: http://www.hp.com/go/saap"

Controllers".
If you search for "advanced" in the quickspecs you will find what features are enabled when adding the advanced feature pack license.

Re: Proliant DL380 G6 and P410 Raidcontroller
thank you for the answers.
The license is nessecarry for advanced configuration. Do I have this advanced features in the GUI without buying an license?
I think the most import are available without the license.
Raid 50
Is it possible to use an HotSpare?
Thanks!

Re: Proliant DL380 G6 and P410 Raidcontroller
For any configuration except RAID 0, further protection against data loss can be achieved by assigning a
drive as an online spare (or hot spare).
