Proliant G2 memory would fight in a G3?

I am trying to fit a memory from Proliant G2 in a G3?

It a 2 X (1Gb Synch. 133 Mhz CL3 ECC)

The G3s use much faster memory than the PC133. It is not going to work.

Which G2 and G3 models you have?

It DL 380 G3..i had a DL 380 G2

No luck. The DL380G3 uses PC2100 266MHz.

If you tried installing it and for some strange reason it works, it will be because the DL380 memory bus will slow down to half its speed and run at 133MHz. But in that case you would notice a significant decrease in performance.

Memory is cheap these days and the older one you can find it online even cheaper.
