Proliant ML150 G5 server won't boot after bios update
After updating the Proliant ML150 G5 BIOS to version 2010.10.25, when we start the server, the message CPU1 DETECT FAILED appears and the server shut down, with no workaround option., no F10, no nothing. The server only has one processor and it is on CPU0. If I change the FAN from CPU0 FAN to CPU1 FAN, I get the message CPU0 DETECT FAILED, as if it were mandatory that the server has two processors to start. I already tried to clear the CMOS and changed the position of the DIP SWITCHES from 1 ON 2 ON 3 OFF 4 OFF to ALL ON. Can anyone help?

Re: Proliant ML150 G5 server won't boot after bios update
We installed a fan from a DL180 G5 in the CPU1 FAN input, without the second processor and the ML150 is working, but it needs to have another way, without workarounds. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Changing the DIP switch had disabled a network card. We went back to 1 and 2 ON; 3 and 4 OFF, clearing the CMOS after to recognize again the network card that was in a PCIEx4 slot. Apparently the ID DIP Switches is 1 1 0 0 for the ML150 G5 and 1 1 1 1 for DL180 G5, which uses the same system board. If anyone has these SW6 definitions it will also help us a lot. Thanks.

Good day!
Regarding the DIP switch settings, you've mentioned that the ID DIP switches are set to "1 1 0 0" for the ML150 G5 and "1 1 1 1" for the DL180 G5. These switches typically indicate the system ID, and using the correct settings for your specific server model is very much needed.
Here are some steps you can take to potentially resolve the issue more effectively:
>> Reach out to HPE support, They should be able to provide you with the correct DIP switch settings for your ML150 G5 server and may offer additional guidance on resolving the BIOS update issue.
>> Review the release notes and documentation for the BIOS update you applied. Sometimes, the documentation may contain specific instructions or known issues related to the update. It's possible that there's a particular configuration or step that needs to be followed.
>> Ensure that the motherboard in your ML150 G5 matches the version that the BIOS update is intended for. Using BIOS updates not designed for your specific motherboard revision can cause compatibility issues.
>> As mentioned earlier, some servers have BIOS recovery procedures in case of a failed update. These procedures typically involve using a specific jumper or key combination during boot to force the system to recover from a backup BIOS image.
>> Ensure that firmware for other components, such as the system board and RAID controller (if applicable), is up to date.
>> Make sure you have a backup of any data on the server before attempting any further troubleshooting or updates.
Hope this helps! Let me know

Good day! Thanks for this answer!
We set the DIP Switch positions back to the original 1 1 0 0.
We did the BIOS update because we had an issue that sounded a lot like what this update was about (https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&softwareId=MTX_26b19f16ea8143618601381cfe). There are no dependencies or know issues in the documentation for this update.
There is no specification about motherboard models in the BIOS update documentation.
We didn't find any procedure for BIOS recovery.
Other firmwares are up to date.
We always do an extra backup before updates like this.
The ML150 G5 is up and running despite having a functionless fan installed.
We will contact HP support. Thanks.

Hi, support_s. I think the links you sent are not related to the issue, but thanks anyway.
