"The iLO is not licensed to use the Integrated Remote Console after server POST is complet

After a firmware update I get this message:
The iLO is not licensed to use the Integrated Remote Console after server POST is complete...."

Does this mean I wont be able to use ilo to install an OS anymore?
Why the change after updating??

Hi,

Please give more details like Server model, iLO Version, iLO FW version, iLO License type that is currently installed.
Here is a similar post for your reference.

Hi,

the iLO is not licensed to use the Integrated Remote Console after server POST is complete...."

The IRC always needs the "iLO Advanced License", there has been no change for years.
In the Past without a License, it worked for some minutes, after cutting the Monitor/Keyboard for remote Sessions.

Does this mean I wont be able to use ilo to install an OS anymore?
Yes, or you can plug a Monitor/Keyboard into the Server, like the good old Days.

Why the change after updating??
It seems, that this behavor is now changed to Boot Screen only.

Btw, you can try out iLO Advnced for 90 Days:
HPE iLO Advanced Trial License | HPE

@Cali  & @Suman_1978

Will downgrading help to restore it to how to was?

If the ILO is licensed then kindly use the License key to re-activate it. If the server is not licensed then it is a feature of ILO to stop remote console after the POST completes. If ILO is licensed then you should be able to use remote console even after POST. Please use the below links to get in touch with the ILO licensing team:-

I bought this machine used, I do not have the licence key. Could I retrive the licence key from the ilo backup perhaps. I'm not sure if it was ilo advanced, all I know is that I was able to remotely install the OS.

Second question, if someone has already used an iLO advanced trial key on this machine, will I still be able to get another trial and activate it here?

ILO license needs to be purchased however you can use a trial license which should help you to install the Operating system:-
https://www.hpe.com/us/en/resources/integrated-systems/ilo-advanced-trial.html

Also you can use a monitor and keyboard to install the OS.

Re: "The iLO is not licensed to use the Integrated Remote Console after server POST i

I tried the link to get trial license (because HPE will not sell a real license to me because, as online chat put it, I have only a residential address, which HPE will not accept for purchases, or even for "guest" purchases).  However, after clicking through the steps, I get "A temporary issue prevented us from processing your request.  Please try again later."  I've tried an hour later, a day later, and a week later, and still get the same message.

How does one obtain an ILO license if they are not a business?

Try eBay...  Typically under $10.

Make sure you get the appropriate version (3/4/5/6)

Hi,
It works the license from one version to another but i don't know if it is legal or not.
also if you had an Advanced iLO license you should be able to re-use it on the same server.
i am not sure in case of iLO7.

Re: "The iLO is not licensed to use the Integrated Remote Console after server POST i

Found a solution!  Found a hacked iLO license..  While I'd rather pay for a legitimate license because I try to be honest in my affairs, HPE doesn't allow people like me to pay them.  I spent $1300 on a used server and needed an iLo license.  The ONLY solution I could find was a cracked license code.  HPE's loss is their own fault as far as I'm concened.  I tried to give them my money, but they refused it.
