raid 5, dos partition, corrupt file found by scandisk
I have a netware server with 4 drives in a raid5 configuration on a proliant server. The other day after a server crash and a failure to reboot, I ran the ms dos 6.0 SCANDISK program. It found about a dozen bad files which it saved as .CHK files.
How can it be that a RAID5 setup can have corrupted files? The RAID controller indicates no malfunction of the array.
Thanks,
Vern

Re: raid 5, dos partition, corrupt file found by scandisk
Hi Vernon,
I don???t think the setup of you raid 5 cause the file corruption but should we looked toward hardware 1st. Their is a couple of things one can do: firware update on the array controller as well as the hard drives and system rom since to complete the firware picture. The raid diag are very reliable; you might only be software corruption as well. But again to rule out the hardware if you want to get those softpaqs you can gets those at the following URL: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/ .I can also provide you with the softpaqs if you need.
Hope this will help
