Hi All,
I have a server 4x2.4 TB configured raid 6.
My question is. Is it possible to partition the logical drive into two parts, one for the operating system and the other for storage?
Thank you in advance.

Re: RAID 6
Hi,
It should be possible using partitioning tools like diskpart.
Depending on the OS installed you may choose the right software.
some information:
https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2293242-1-massive-raid-6-array-how-to-partition-on-windows
https://www.stellarinfo.com/article/how-to-create-raid-partition.php
NOTE: It’s important to keep data backup before performing this activity.
Data integrity is customer responsibility. HPE recommends having data backup frequently and before performing any activity so that it can be restored during disaster recovery.
Thank You!

Re: RAID 6
Hello Suman,
Thanks for the response.
I am planning to install ESXi on my server, So the question is can I partition my 4x2.4TB in two logical drives with only 1 RAID configuration?
by the way, we are using MR416i-a Storage controller.
Regards,

Re: RAID 6
Hi,
You should be able to do.
You can create 2 sets of Raid 1 volume, with 2 drives each.

Re: RAID 6
@Suman_1978 Hi Suman,
How about if I configure the 4 disks as RAID 6, then partition the logical drive into two parts, 1 for ESXi and 1 for storage, is that possible?
Thanks,
