I am new to servers, and have never set up a RAID before. I was wondering if someone could help me with some detailed instructions on how to set up these RAID configurations before I install the OS.
On bootup, I can see the following details:
Ultra3 BIOS 3.02.01
Smart Array 5312 Controller
SCSI BIOS not installed.
It also says something about the battery charge being low and cache being temporarily disabled.
Thanks in advance….

Solutionis it a straight ml370 or a g2 cause it sounds like a g2. anyway if its g1 use smartstart 5.5 to configure the smart array controller and install the OS. if its a g2 it would be best to use the latest version of smartstart (7.8) as it is a supported server. 7.8 is very simple to get the hang of. To create the RAID configuration you want, you must create two Arrays and assign drives to them. Smartstart can be download straight from the HP and just copy the files to a CD and boot using the disk.
Good Luck.

Re: RAID on ML370
to create the Array you have to use Array configuration utility that comes with the smartStart
SmartStart for G1

SmartStart 7.8 For G2 - G3 - G4 - G5
