Recover data from mirrored SAS from Smart Array E200

I have a ML350 g5 that recently failed and the motherboard is shot. I want to recover some data from the mirrored drives. I plugged the drives into another SAS controller (9690SA) and it did not see the partitions. I assume then that I would need another Smart Array E200 to be able to pull the data from the drive. Can I just purchase a SA e200 to plug into a PCI-E slot and access the data? Any other options?

HP claims that there is "data compatibility" across their raid controllers. See at bottom of

You would need to plug in the drives to another E200 or another HP SA-series controller in the list in the URL.
I have not tried an E200 or other HP controller on a non HP server but I have heard that they do work with the appropriate drivers.

You need to connect the drives to the same type of Smart Array Controller - E200..
This is because the RIS tables that are located on the hard drives were configured with this controller, henceforth, it's best that you use it.
Ensure that the firmware and driver is up to date.
If you are going to use a E200 PCI card make sure you configure it at the primary one in the boot controller order, this if the OS is part of the same logical drive.

As TTr say.

Smart Array controllers are data compatible. Wich mean you can move drive's to another controller.
ei from a E200i to an P800.
But on the old models SCSI, general rule was, that controllers wasn't driver compatible, so before moving drives, you had to install the driver for the new controller, especially if yoy had to boot from the drives.

The SAS controller seem to use the same driver:

But if you buy an E200, then it should work strait away.
The controller allways read the RIS area, and pickup the setup from there.

I believe, the setup is nolonger stored on the conrollers.
