Size of HDD on ML330 G@

Size of HDD on ML330 G@

It is my understanding that this model only is able to use 40GB IDE HDs or 36.4GB SCSI drives. Can I insall a large drive, say a 120GB and partition the drives into 3 40GB sections or do I need to install separate 40GB drives? Also, if I install the drive using a PCI card and boot from there will I need 40GB drives or can I partition the 120GB drive to work as described above?
