SMART-2SL card on a proliant ML370?
I have a Proliant ML370 without any RAID controller, but I happen to have some spare SMART-2SL and SMART-2DH controllers sitting around. Are these two compatible with the ML370?
I installed them into the PCI slots in the top, disconnected the SCSI cable from the SCSI adapter, connected it to the top of the SMART array adapters. During bootup it detects the card but it fails to detect any of the hard drives installed.

Re: SMART-2SL card on a proliant ML370?
hello
yes these array controllers will work in this system however it is strongly recommended that you update the rom on both the controller and the system...the array controller should also be seated in either slots 4,5 or 6 to boot properly off of them..recommendation is slot 6. You might want to also run the system erase utility off the smartstart cd (note this is data destructive) and then reinstall via the smartstart..if you do not want to use the smartstart for the install you will need sp14437.exe to get by the array controller..you do this by hitting the F6 during the NT boot up and choosing "specify" instead of letting it detect mass storage..then choose other and it will prompt you for the manufacturers diskette which you can create from the sp14437.exe..
