Smart 5300 Low battery ..
We have the above controller in a ML570 which is showing yellow under Compaq Insight Manager.
The warning is showing the Accelerator temp. disabled due to a low battery state. The battery has been recharging for Days.
I have on site a new controller and batteries other than backing up the server which is running NT 4 and recording the array info. are there any other issues that anyone can think of while swapping either the batteries , contoller or both . Thanks.

Re: Smart 5300 Low battery ..
Make sure you have two of those batteries in case your new one is defective.
Make sure you have a disk-drive based backup for faster data restoration as well as a tape backup.
Make sure you have the latest firmware for the new and the old controller in case you need it.
And you probably know this already but write down a quick flow chart mapping each step of the job you are doing.
The flow chart should include what to do if step fails.
This is my first post, hope this was what you where looking for.

Re: Smart 5300 Low battery ..
Turns out that a reboot fixed this issue without having to use any parts .
So if your are reading this and have a similar issue.
Reboot 1st and see what happens before ordering spares.
But why did it fail in the first place ?
Who knows !!!!!
