Smart Array P410 RAID5 Expansion

Hi,
I would be highly appreciated obtaining any help for the following scenario.

We have HP ProLiant DL180 G6 server + Smart Array P410 (firmware 6.64, 256 MB, battery) + One RAID5 volume (7 SATA drives 1Tb + 1 SATA drive 1Tb as a hot spare).

We would like to expand existing RAID5 volume (and keep all data) by replacing all 8 SATA drives to 3 Tb SAS drives.

Is it possible to do this by replacing each drive one by one, waiting for complete rebuilding and finally expand volume by HP SSA? If so should we start from the hot spare drive, from the first RAID drive or it doesn’t matter?
Thanks!

While RAID expansion is supported, it is not possible in your scenario. SATA and SAS drives cannot be mixed in the same physical array.

Re: Smart Array P410 RAID5 Expansion

Thanks, Jimmy!

Sad news... OK, thus full backup, array deletion, new array creation and full restore...
