Hi,
I've got HP ProLiant DL360 G9 Server with Smart Array P440ar Controler. I've got four disks HP EG1200JEMDA 1.2TB 12G SAS configured as RAID10. I want to buy the same four disks.
1. Can I create second RAID10 with new disks?
2. Would it be possible to add new disks (expand RAID capacity) to existing RAID without loosing data?

SolutionHi,
1. Yes, you can create another RAID10 with additional 4 new disks. Make sure that the Smart Array Controller is having cache module.
2. Please refer HPE Smart Storage Administrator User Guide for drive array expansion and extension.

Re: Smart Array P440ar Controller two RAID 10
Can you tell me how to define if controller is having cache module? And why it is needed?

Re: Smart Array P440ar Controller two RAID 10
Hi Makot,
Login to iLO of the server.
Browsing through System Information > Storage tab will provide the controller model with cache information.
Or Accessing Smart Storage Administrator provides the controller and cache information.
A battery backed write cache is the prerequisite for expanding an array.
Please refer the HPE Smart Storage Administrator User Guide for detailed information. It would answer most of the question.
