Smart Start 4.90

I can't get SmartStart 4.90 to work with the new DL380s I've purchased. Actually, it will get all the way to setting up the System Partition Utility, copy files, and then it freezes. After a couple minutes, it will ask that the CD-ROM be put into the CD holder - but when I hit either Continue or Skip, it just locks. I then used SmartStart 4.80, and it worked just fine. Is there a known problem with 4.90 and DL380's? (It worked the 2nd attempt on one DL380, NEVER worked after 5 attempts on another DL380, and failed on a third DL380 before I went to the 4.80 CD)

Re: Smart Start 4.90

There are no known problems , sounds like a bad CD .

Re: Smart Start 4.90

I've had almost identical problems with two seperate DL380s and two different 4.90 CDs. I don't get the error message but the system freezes at 0% during file copy to system utilities partition. Likewise, SmartStart 4.80 worked a treat.

I've had the same problem. It hasn't been every time, but I don't know why it would 'occasionally' work. What SCSI RAID Controller were you using?

Re: Smart Start 4.90

Sorted. Updated firmware on CDROM drive to 9.0c (SP14377) and all okay. See Customer Advisory EA000829_CW01. This article states that SmartStart 4.80 hangs, but this version actaully worked fine for me. The problem only occured with 4.90.

Dear Users

There is a Fix for the Teac CD-Rom on the Support Page. I had the same Problem with two Machines, but one CD-Rom is D.O.A
Firmware upgrade for Teac (Slim-line) CD-ROM drives 9.0c

Kind regards
