SMP HAL Upgrade
I have downloaded the latest SSD (SP14408.exe), and reading through the help file regarding upgrading to a multiple processor server, it states that after running SP14408 you must enter the path for the service pack. Are they referring to the Microsoft Service pack? And if so, since SP6a is one executable, do I simply enter the path for this file, or must I have SP6a on a CD?

Re: SMP HAL Upgrade
They are referring to the Microsoft Service Pack. You must use the last Microsoft Service Pack you applied to NT. If it was downloaded from the Microsoft Website or purchased on a CD, the correct hal will have to apply due to the files date stamps are different from each of it's source when applied in NT. If the wrong source files for the Microsoft Service pack is installed, NT will Blue Screen. Also, there are preparation steps that need to done before the SMP Hal Upgrade is installed and applied. Research on Microsoft Website for Mulitprocessor Upgrade and also Compaq Website:www.compaq.com - Research Multiprocessor in White Papers. Also, all Hardware Rompaq upgrades and updates should be applied before your SMP Hal Upgrade take place.
