The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, is not ready for access yet.
The servers seem ok, i.e. no issues with the disks physically.
Can anyone help me diagnose this issue, i've seen one thread that talks about drivers, firmware etc and that the events may not be harmful.
Just trying to understand what is causing them... if anyone has any ideas i'd be very eager to hear them?

Re: The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, is not ready for access yet.
No silver bombs here!!!!!!
It is indeed the firmware upgrade that is needed for the hard drives.
Please refer to this matrix for the identification of the hard drives below:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=PSD_CN0304W&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
You may have to upgrade the hard drive firmwares for all the hard drives.
Also any of the following can be used to determine the SCSI hard drive model and firmware version if possible:
* Compaq Array Diagnostics Utility
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24462.html
* Compaq Insight Manager
* Compaq Inspect Utility
* Compaq Survey Utility
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24698.html
This issue can be prevented by updating the SCSI hard drive firmware.
Hope this works!!!!!

Just to clarify if it is firmware issues etc.... is there any reason why it would just suddenly start occurring?

Re: The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, is not ready for access yet.
If its on Win NT and a tape device is connected,only then this advisory is applicable,

Re: The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR1, is not ready for access yet.
Reason could be due to the tape drive as well as suggested by Sandeep. Could be due to the large backup at one shot.
or
Also could be due to accessing of large chunk of data or writing large chunk of data at one shot on the hard drives.
Firmware upgrade enhances the capability of better performance whether it is a hard drive or tape drive.
Hence suggested a hdd firmware upgrade.
Hope this answers!!!!!
