Trusted platform 2.0 module for Gen 9 Proliant DL380?
I have three Proliant DL380 gen 9 machines. Two of them have a TP 1.2 module installed, the third does not have a TPM installed at all, as far as I can tell (per looking at iLO).
It sounds like if you have a 1.2 module installed, you're done, and it's not replaceable (as in, to upgrade to 2.0). Is that correct?
For the one which does not seem to have a TP module install, is it just a matter of buying a 2.0 module and plugging it in? If I wanted 2.0 on all three of the servers, would it take buying new motherboards with no TPMs for the two which are already at 1.2?

Re: Trusted platform 2.0 module for Gen 9 Proliant DL380?
Hi,
yes, this information is from QuickSpec:
745823-B21 HPE Trusted Platform Module 2.0 Kit
NOTE: If the TPM Module (488069-B21) is installed, then there is no support for TPM 2.0.
NOTE: This is supported on both the E5-2600v3 and E5-2600v4 processors.
NOTE: HPE Trusted Platform Module 2.0 Option works with Gen9 servers with UEFI Mode not Legacy Mode.
NOTE: HPE Gen9 servers purchased earlier may need the latest firmware update to be compatible with the TPM 2.0 Option.
NOTE: HPE server systems can have a TPM module (of any type) installed only once. It cannot be replaced with any other TPM module.
488069-B21 HPE Trusted Platform Module Option
NOTE: The HPE Trusted Platform Module Option (488069-B21) is the TPM 1.2 version.
NOTE: HPE server systems can have a TPM module (of any type) installed only once. It cannot be replaced with any other TPM module.

Re: Trusted platform 2.0 module for Gen 9 Proliant DL380?
Hello,
The document providing spare parts information, the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 Server - Spare Parts, does not list TPM as a spare part, which indicates that it is embedded on the system board and hence it cannot be installed separately.

Re: Trusted platform 2.0 module for Gen 9 Proliant DL380?
I replaced mine on a G9 from 1.2 to 2.0.
It was installed but I belived never activated on the system!
I just slowly crushed the top of the rivet as it was all dried out plastic and pulled the chip off then slowly removed the rivet upwards with needlenose pliers and replaced with the new chip, cleaned up any plastic pieces left behind and it works fine!
Atleast this worked for me, do at your own risk as this is not supported.
