Hi All,
I'm running HP Proliant ML 110 G5 with the Internal / builtin Array Controller, Slot 0 - Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller (firmware v12.0.1.1018).
I've created the Logical drive 2x 1 TB SATA HDD as 931 GB LUN in the controller BIOS (F8) before booting into the Windows Server 2012 R2 Std.
However, in the WIndows disk management console, it is shown astwo separate individual drive not one 931 GB LUN ?
Why is that happening ?

Re: Unable to create RAID-1 using Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller ?
You need a driver for that controller, as the driver provides the RAID functionality. I don't think your going to find a driver for 2012 or 2012 R2. The controller is a software based raid controller. Your best option is to just keep the contrioller in SATA mode and use the RAID function of your OS

Re: Unable to create RAID-1 using Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller ?
Jimmy,
Since the OS is already installed & configured successfully, can I just install the driver from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=17882 Intel Matrix Storage ?
So what about in the event of hard disk drive failure ?
can I just shutdown the server and then replace the hard disk with any model as long as it is SATA 1 TB ?

Solutionnone of those drivers listed are for Server 2012 R2
HP has the driver for 2008 R2 but not 2012 R2 That machine was never tested with 2012 so it isn't a supported OS. That doesn't mean it won't work, but there is no driver support past 2008 R2

Re: Unable to create RAID-1 using Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller ?
Thanks Jimmy,
So in the event of RAID-1 hard drive failure detected, can I just replace the broken Hard Drive afer shutdown and let the OS resume afterwards during the SATA RAID-1 rebuild ?

Re: Unable to create RAID-1 using Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller ?
The controller has options for reparing/replacing failed mirror, but this isn't an option without a driver. I'm not familiar with how Windows handles a disk failure when Windows is providing the RAID services.

Re: Unable to create RAID-1 using Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller ?
Many thanks Jimmy,
Somehow the installation complained that it is not compatible:
The software is not supported for installation on this system.
The OS is not supported.
Press 'Close' to exit Setup.
I managed to force install it manually, but with the error below:

Re: Unable to create RAID-1 using Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller ?
the driver is for Server 2008, not Server 2012, there isn't a driver for Server 2012

Yes you are right.
Many thanks for the confirmation Jimmy.
