Hi! We are planning to upgrade a fleet of ML350 G10 servers to G11. Will we be able to move existing hard drives to the G11? Or are the drives imcompatible with the newer chassis? Any info appreciated!

SolutionThanks! I believe that gives me the answer I was looking for:
P53557-B21 for example, shows in both the G10 and the G11. Therefore the caddy is unchanged. 774026-001 will work in either the G10 or G11 and drives can be moved from one model to the other without changing the caddy.

Re: Upgrading from ML350 G10 to G11
Did this really work? None of the SAS SFF drives in our Gen10's will install in our Gen11's. Had to buy new hard drives.

Re: Upgrading from ML350 G10 to G11
We only use LFF drives on ML350 chassis as a rule. I don’t know about the SFFs – they may have changed the drive cage and sled specs on those. The easiest way to check is to see if they have identical part numbers for SFF drives in the quickspecs for the G10 and the G11. If they don’t match, they probably changed the design.
That said you can probably find the G11 sleds online by now (amazon…) for between $13 and $20.

A bit on the expensive side:

I am also led to believe by our CDW rep they are now carrying the caddies for the HP servers. Best of luck!
