Thanks for the quick response.
Im guessing that the same rules aply to the internal scsi port 1 then!

and what is the default scsi configuration?

Sorry, I was too quick, as you refer to an internal, not external port.

Anyway: download user's guide using link in mentioned thread & go to section 'Embedded duplex SCSI cabling', page 59.

You will need the option below though if your box does not have duplex backplane by default (I believe that's the case):

SCSI Configuration Kit
NOTE: Kit Includes duplex drive backplane terminator and 2 long SCSI cables.

Re: Using the internal SCSI port 1 on DL 380 G4

Will a normal SCSI cable with termination do then?
we have a internal Storageworks dat 72 drive and a external powersupply for it.

And i have used the delivered SCSI kabel to connect to the internal port 1 and routed the bable out trough the pci slots.

It is a highly unusual setup, but shouldn't it work, i cant seem to finr any setting in either ORCA or ACU that will let me configure a new array, or enable port1

Re: Using the internal SCSI port 1 on DL 380 G4

OK, what are you trying to fit into this server? 'Proper' option, i.e. DAT 72 SCSI Hot-Plug [Q1529A] or standard DAT 72 SCSI Internal [Q1522B]?

If the former is true, then you should have duplex SCSI to separate tape bus from your hard drives (but the tape drive plugs directly into the SCSI backplane).

The latter option is not supported & I think you won't be able to physically fit the drive into the server.

Re: Using the internal SCSI port 1 on DL 380 G4

HEHE
It is the latter option, and I know that it wont fit physically.
So I have the drive externaly with an external powersupply.
However my external box doesn't support scsi normaly so i am routing the internal cable from the drive in trough the pci slots,to the scsi port 1, and connect it there.
The cable came with the drive, and the drive supports Ultra160 SCSI LVD.
As i said I know its a rather unusual setup, but it should work right?.

Re: Using the internal SCSI port 1 on DL 380 G4

Not necessarily - in HP world many unsupported configs simply don't work at all.

If you want to give it a try though, then you have to configure internal duplex SCSI as per mentioned user's guide. I have no idea whether ANY terminator would work instead of a propoer one supplied by HP as an option.

OK I'll take that into consideration, it's all because of a miss buy :).
I am currently looking into alternative setups, but thanks for all the help!
