VMWare ESX 4i on ML 330 G6 SATA RAID - no raid set visible
Hi there,
I configured RAID 1 on the server, seeing 1 logical volume in SmartArray Manager, but when I try to install ESX it brings up the two separate 250 GB HDDs
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Did you install the RAID controller drivers with ESXi?

Re: VMWare ESX 4i on ML 330 G6 SATA RAID - no raid set visible
It sounds like you're using the embedded Embedded HP Smart Array B110i SATA RAID Controller. ESX doesn't have a driver (included or installable) for this controller in RAID mode. The B110i is chipset-based RAID, which ESX doesn't support.
ESX will load a SATA driver for this controller, so it just sees 2 drives.
If you use a RAID controller like the P212 in a slot, this should work.
