What is PCI riser cage - 408788-001
see the picture here http://quickfiles.net/img/408788-001.JPG
I need to know if I can fix this to the server or I also need a cage similar to this http://www.cmserversdirect.com/popup_image.php?pID=14847
Or the cage is already coming with the server?

It's pretty simple and takes about 5 minutes.

Re: What is PCI riser cage - 408788-001
Usually a riser is for change PCI slots PCI-e for PCI-Express, etc..
not add slots, only change type.
you open your server, and change new riser for the installed riser

Re: What is PCI riser cage - 408788-001
HP ProLiant DL385 Generation 5
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13012_div/13012_div.HTML
The server has 5 PCI-E slots as standard (2 on system board and 3 on riser installed in cage).
Products numbers 410570-B21 and 408788-001 indicate the same part - mixed riser (PCI-E/PCI-X). Installing this riser requires removing standard 3-slot PCI-E riser. After installing you will have still 5 slots, but two of them will be PCI-X.

Re: What is PCI riser cage - 408788-001
No, you don't need to buy a cage. You can't install second cage in DL385G5.
>> this board alone can be fixed to the server?
If you want to install this riser board to the server, you need first to remove a standard riser board.
