what should i do to configuring two Lan cards as failover cards?
i have two Lan cards installed on a DL580, i want to configure them as failover cards, it means the IP configured on on card, and when this card fails, or the switch failed, the IP will switch to another card. like compaq's NetRain. do i need to use some software or just install some driver?
thanks.

Re: what should i do to configuring two Lan cards as failover cards?
I would suggest you to install new PSP from site that will solve most of your problems like for eva and this case you will be using the teaming utility that is a part of psp.

Re: what should i do to configuring two Lan cards as failover cards?
Preshant means the Proliant Support Pack which you can find here: http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/psp/index.html
PSP includes drivers which allow you to team HP/Compaq NICs which ist exactly what you are looking for! http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/networking/teaming.html

Re: what should i do to configuring two Lan cards as failover cards?
Hi,
Which is the OS that you use ?
Depanding on the OS you can download the NIC teaming software which will allow us to configure the NICs as FAILOVER or LOAD BALANCING mode.
Check the lattest Proliant Support Plan.
Regards,
Siva.

Re: what should i do to configuring two Lan cards as failover cards?
This whitepaper I wrote provides 80+ pages of information about teaming.
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/networking/TeamingWP.pdf
Specifically, look at Section 3 (Teaming Fundamentals For the First Time User). 3-2 provides an overview of every Teaming type. 3-5 provides instructions on downloading, installing, launching, etc. 3-7-1 provides an example of how to deploy/configure teaming.
If you want in depth information, you can also read all of Section 4.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
