Windows 2000 and SCSI Configuration
I recently installed Windows 2000 AS on a Proliant 3000 and am now getting multiple SCSI errors on cpq32fs21.
Here is the lineage of the problem:
a) Initate Smartstart assisted install
b) Install Windows 2000 AS
c) Install Compaq Utilities
After completing the install, all monitoring lights on the drives are functioning.
Drives - 6 SCSI Ultra Wide 2 - Terminated and functioning (healthy)
Upon login, I check the disk management utility and find that all of my drives except for the drive where the o/s resides are not recognized (to format, change drive letters, etc.). The Device Manager shows that they exist.
The system log is filling up with multiple disk errors - "Parity error on \Harddisk0\Scsi\cpq32fs21"
If on the other hand, I don't use the Smartstart install process and install Win2k AS on its own, I don't have this problem at all. I read about the cables and thought about it for a moment, but if the cable is bad, then why would it work w/o using Smartstart.
All drivers for cpq32fs are up to date and installed.
I am getting tired of re-installing Windows multiple times!
I have read the other forums and found that re-configuring the SCSI ids could be a resolution (conflicting IDs). How do you do this? I don't have a RAID array, only the SCSI 32bit Integrated controller.

Re: Windows 2000 and SCSI Configuration
Their are some known errors that can be fixed with new SCSI Disk bios, that do not exactly correspond to your delema, but;
Have you updated the bios on the Disks? Use this ROMPaq (3 diskettes) to update the bios on the drives and see if the errors go away:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/16132.html
You can also find bios updates for these in:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/7702.html
I hope this helps...
