Windows 2000 Wrongly Detect no. of CPU

Hi. there,

I'm using a Proliant ML530 with 2 x Intel Xeon 2.4Ghz CPU, during the BIOS checking when the server power on, it is correctly shown there are 2 processors, but after bootup into Windows 2000 server, both the task manager and system summary shown there are 4 processor.

Would anyone of you know the root of problem?

Best regards,

Hi You've done nothing wrong !! This is normal with this machine and Windows 2000 : this is due to the Hyper-Threading technology of the 2.4GHz Xeon processors For more information, refer to
http://www.compaq.com/products/servers/technology/hyper-threading.html

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/server/evaluation/performance/reports/hyperthread.asp

Hope this helps !
