Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
I'm having the same exact problem. Support Pack 7.10 A, latest ROMpaq.
The management driver shows a yellow exclamation mark in device manager.
Let me know if you find out anything.
Thanks,
Brandon

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
Do you have your SNMP service "disabled"? That could be why the agents are not loading.

Regardless, we both appear to have the same problem with the Management Controller driver loading, and I have SNMP installed.

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
Try to manually install the agents, i.e., Update the driver by not using the PSP scripted install.

NIC, Performance, Storage -> green
Version Control -> blue
Utilization, System, Recovery -> grey, No Informations available
If you are looking in old Insight Manager 5.5 the Server is only an Industry Standard PC, not a Proliant Server.

SolutionI was thinking about changing the hal to acpi multiprocessor pc (Halmacpi.dll) but I think I will quit while I am ahead, plus Microsoft says to be careful when doing this because an un compatiable hal will cause the computer not to boot.

I wonder why Windows 2003 Server recognized the Server as MPS and not as ACPI System?

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
Did you use the smart start cd to install your server? If so did your smart start cd have and option for windows 2003?
Also, when I go into system configuration using the smart start CD the operating system only has no options for windows 2003, currently i have windows 2000 selected. Is this what you also see.

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
I can also see only an Option for Windows 2000 Server, for this Server you can use only Smart Start 5.5, because the newer Versions are only for the G2 or G3 Models without System Partitons. I have looked for an update of the System Partiton Software, but I could not find one.
Perhaps this is what we need?!

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
I started over and now the system is being recognized as an ACPI compatible computer and all drivers are loading. I can also see everything within insight manager. I have not loaded the lastest compaq support pack but I plan to shortly.
This is what I did:
I used the smart start CD version 5.4.
Ran system erase utiltiy.
Restarted system.
Smart start started and i choose to manually configure the system.
Choose Windows 2000 advanced server( English)
Configured the array for raid 5(note I am not using the onboard controller, I am using one in slot 4)
Set the controller in slot 4 to the primary controller.
Manually installed Windows 2003 from CD
The only thing different from the time I did this before was setting the slot 4 controller to primary and selecting windows 2000 advanced server instead of windows 2000 server.

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
I've already upgraded my BIOS with the latest offline ROMPaq to no effect.
I wonder if there is something to selecting Advanced Server. I can't really do a system erase though. I wonder if there is another way to set that? I don't remember seeing that (Advanced Server) option when running the system partition utilities.
Thanks,
Brandon

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
- I used the smart start CD version 5.3 (didn't have 5.4)
- Ran system erase utiltiy.
- Restarted system.
- Smartstart started and chose to manually configure the system.
- Choose Windows 2000 advanced server( English)
- Configured 2 arrays in my case an 8GB RAID 0+1, followed by a RAID 5 for the remainder. Using the 5300 controller in slot 3 which came up already configured (since the onboard controller isn't attached to anything.) The controller in slot 3 is primary as its theonly one in use.
- Let Smartstart reboot the server as many times as needed. I thought at this point something got hosed since it reboot a couple of times, but eventually it came up with the "place server install CD in drive wizard".
- Placed Win2003 server CD n drive and manually installed Windows 2003 from CD.
Once this was done, I download the 7.10A support pack from here: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/supportpaq.html and installed what I could. A few items didn't install, but I'm not sure if they needed to be or not.
Then I installed, NAV, and all Win2K3 server hot fixes before I connected the server to the network.
Next I installed Baseline Analyser and ran a scan. Once that was done I ran Windows Update immediately to patch any other holes.
And that was it. Server is running fine, though it seems to me to be a tad "sluggish". Not sure why. Event viewer doesn't show any errors or such.
All in all a fairly perfect setup.
Thanks Frank for the initial insite.

Re: Windows 2003 Server on a Proliant DL380/733
From what i read, this is the latest and last ROMPaq for the DL380 (G1) servers.
