Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
I've seen a lot of people doing although that is not supported by HP
the driver you can use are here:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/69_6213.html
I think the driver for the controller is you're looking for specially if you have e200 or p400 controller

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
Tnx for the link. I downloaded drivers for P400 controler, extract them and save to floppy. I mount floppy drive from my machine becouse it not exist on DL380. When installation starts i press F6 for instalation third part drive, it found all the files on the floppy, but when i press button to load drivers it says that "there is no hpcisss2.sys file". But if you check the floppy with explorer, you can find that this file exist.

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
use nLite. :) I did this a few times and it's easy to use. One of our customers often buy ML110 systems with XP Pro. SP2. I build a customized XP CD for this customer, to install XP on the ML110. You can adapt it to the DL380.
nLite can be downloaded here:
http://www.nliteos.com/index.html
Hope that helps.
Best regards,
Patrick

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
I had downloaded drivers that you recommended ( HP ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA Controller Driver for Windows Server 2003), download and install nLite. I had made ISO image adding drivers like in installation manual that you send me, burn CD and start installation. But again same story. "The file HpCISSs2.sys could not be found" message appear.
Patrick, what driver do you use when you prepare that customized XP CD for your customer?

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
I've try to make installation Windows XP CDs adding some drivers that you recommend (using nLite), including drivers from the SmartStart CD that comes with HP servers, but didn't work.
Patrick, can you tell me where can i find those w2k drivers that you use? Maybe they will work.

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
I've manage installation of Windows XP on DL380 G5 server using some of the recommended drivers. I made installation CD adding these drivers with nLite.
But then i try to put image from other computer on different DL380 G5 server. When i try to start system i receive message that system can't find HDDs. I made a repair with previously made Windows XP CD. When i start system again it show Windows XP starting screen 1 or 2 seconds and then disappear and computer restart. In Safe Mode it stop on gernuwa.sys. I've found info on internet that i have to remove that driver. I've done that. When i start server in safe mode again (normall start doesn't work again) it stops on mup.sys. What should i do now?

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
I was trying to do the same, install Windows XP in HP Proliant DL380 G5.
I've followed the instructions and built a customized image with nLite. Installation was successful, but network interfaces and several other devices were not recognized.
So I had to do the following to get everything working:
1. Download drivers for broadcom (Broadcom NetXtreme II GigE Driver Installer) from:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtremeii.php
I chose the Windows XP link.
2. Install the drivers by unzipping and running the setup file.
3. Download HP support pack 7.60 for Windows 2000. That HP code is bp000285. The link to download can be found at:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=MTX-91b00ba75cd14fe08c6aa669c0&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121516
4. Extract the package, run "bp000285.cmd" file. This installs all the missing drivers.
At this point, the system seems to be running without any problems, and already with HP management tools installed.
I've attached the system_information for future reference.
Best Regards

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
Hey peeps.
I've got myself a HP ProLiant ML350 G5 server from work and was going to install XP on it just for fun/experience.
I've tried to install
HP ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA Controller Driver for Windows 2000
HP ProLiant Smart Array SAS/SATA Controller Driver for Windows Server 2003
and
HP Smart Array E200i/P410i SAS/SATA Controller Driver (this was for the xw460c Blade Workstation)
The 2003 drivers were not recognized at F6 Windows XP setup stage. The 2000 and the XP drivers were seen as the E200i but after accepting them, it froze at "setup is starting windows" after loading a few more drivers.
The server does boot normally into Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition.
Also, and this will probably seem really dumb, but i don't see or get the opportunity to enter the BIOS at any boot stage.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: windows xp on dl380 g5
My problem was all windows installs (XP, Vista, 7, and 2008 server trial) were hanging on setup because of the PCIe cards installed.
I removed the cards and the install went perfectly.
I used the XP drivers for the WS460c G6 at the Windows Install F6 stage
I also found out that the BIOS is slightly different to desktop PC's and it was F9 to get in.
