Corrupted Bios

I have an Hp Netserver 5/100 LC and it has developed a corrupt bios.

I have downloaded the newest bios disk and ran that (told me I had a corrupt bios and to run the configuration utility.

Downloaded the configuration utility and ran that, told me it couldnt run as I had a corrupt bios (WELL I NEVER!!)

Booted the diagnostic disk got half way through booting then hung.

Anyone any ideas how to repair the bios....it is now driving me nuts.

Re: Corrupted Bios

I am not an expert, but i do have two lc units.

you could unplug the machine and disconnect the battery, let sit for an hour, restart with your netserver navigator cd.

or if you Know how to flip the switch for your bios clear on your system board to clear any "corruption" and then start with your navigator cd

Re: Corrupted Bios

Try clearing CMOS. Then booting to the ECU. Here are the steps to clearing cmos.

Power off the server.
Place switch 3 in the off position.
Power on server. Wait until the end of post.
Power off server.
Move switch back to on.
Power on server and boot to ECU.
Do a save and exit.

Re: Corrupted Bios

Keith (again)... Nope..none of the above has worked.

I have a corrupt eisa as well and am still just told to run the configuration utility which does not work.

I am now pulling my own teeth out just for the fun of it

Re: Corrupted Bios

the LC p5/166 really likes to boot configuration from the HP navigator CD.

do you have one?

i am sure HP no longer sells one.

you could call paramount computer to see if they can get you a copy 512-263-7010"austin Texas"

They specailize in retired HP stuff.

I have had the same problem, where i could not fix the config using those floppies off the download page, but after booting to the navigator CD it fixed the problem.
