Re: E60 Adaptec SCSI Controller WIndows NT4
I already posted a reply to this, but it seems to have disapeared.
Are you trying to install NT4.0 using the CD? It kind of sounds like you are. If so, try installing using the install diskettes that you create with NT4.0.
If not, are you getting any messages or errors?

Re: E60 Adaptec SCSI Controller WIndows NT4
I tried the boot disks and this change to a error with the driver 4098 in the C code. IE wont finish reading the driver. So no luck here either ??? No error messages just saying no SCSI adapter etc in this machine of that desciprtion has been detected. (Like NT could detect anything :))
Thanks for any help

Re: E60 Adaptec SCSI Controller WIndows NT4
I'll outline the relevant steps for installing NT4.0 on the server for you. You will have to excuse me if this is how you've been doing it, but if you follow it to the T, the install should be successful.
One question before I start though: Is this a PCI SCSI adapter or is it the one that comes with the server?
1.Boot to the NT Setup disk 1.
2.Replace the disk when asked and hit enter.
3.Press S to "Skip SCSI drivers and Mass Storage Detection."
4.Press S again to Specify an Additional Device. (You will get a list of options).
5.Choose "Other (Requires Disk provided by a hardware manufacturer)."
6.You are prompted to insert a diskette with the manufacturers drivers.
7.Install the driver diskette you created for the SCSSI adapter.
8.Select the relevant driver from the disk.
Next you have to choose any other drivers for SCSI or IDE devices (CD-ROM!)
9.Hit S to install additional adapters.
10. You will have to use the UP arrow key until you reach the ID-CD-ROM (Atapi 1.2)choice and hit ENTER.
That should do it. If you still get errors, give me some more info on that SCSI card and I can help you out some more.

SolutionOkay, it is possible that you have a corrupted download, or maybe a bad floppy. Your best bet is to download the driver again and creat a new floppy. In case you didn't the first time, make sure you download the driver from HP (I believe you said it WAS the onboard SCSI controller?)
Go here to get the drivers:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=18330&submit.y=0&submit.x=0&taskId=135&cc=us&locale=en_US&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=45937&swEnvOID=24
Download the "Driver for HP embedded Ultra Wide SCSI controller..." it should be version 2.21. You will want to use this instead of the driver from the NOS package.
You may also need to download the netserver E60 drivers for Windows NT4 (NOS package), as I think that is where the CD-ROM drivers are. There may also be a SCSI driver in that pack, but you want to use the more current one I just mentioned.
Once the files are donloaded to your desktop, execute them and they will ask you for a blank floppy. Create the disks and then use them on boot when you hit "s".

Re: E60 Adaptec SCSI Controller WIndows NT4
Well HP doesn't support upgrades from NT4.0 to 2000. To be honest, I'm not sure exactly why it is so problematic, it may be something to do with how the two methods request 3d party drivers.
All I do know is that I've never seen it work form the CD and it almost always works from the disks. Funny, huh?

Re: E60 Adaptec SCSI Controller WIndows NT4
I have the same problem than you. I have a HP NetServer E6, and I failed to install Windows NT 4 server.
I'm looking for a driver for "HP embedded Ultra Wide SCSI controller and HP Ultra Wide SCSI Host Bus Adapter (Windows NT4)"
but the link to download this driver is broken , can anybody help me to find this driver and the NOS drivers too for my machine.
Thanks for your help.
