Error messages from NetRaid assistant

Hi

I'm getting error messages in the netraid assistant logs :

NOTIFY:Check Condition on Ch 0 ID 0 with the following sense key - Fri Jan 25 11:40:34 2002
70 00 04 00 00 00 00
18 00 00 00 00 40 80
NOTIFY:Check Condition on Ch 0 ID 1 with the following sense key - Fri Jan 25 11:40:34 2002
70 00 04 00 00 00 00
18 00 00 00 00 40 80
NOTIFY:Check Condition on Ch 0 ID 2 with the following sense key - Fri Jan 25 11:40:34 2002
70 00 04 00 00 00 00
18 00 00 00 00 40 80

however within the netraid assistnat the drives etc show as OK with no errors.

My question is where can I find a more complete decription of error messages etc.

thanks

Re: Error messages from NetRaid assistant

James, Give this a shot. The NVRAM on the controller must be cleared and the configuration must be accepted from drive scratch pads.

Follow these steps:
1. Boot to the HP Navigator and save NetRAID Config through NetRAID Assistant. (This is a precaution incase all else fails).
2. Manually write down the entire RAID configuration including Logical drive properties, array members, and associated id numbers for each Logical drive (again, this is a precaution incase all else fails).
3. Shut down the server and disconnect all drives connected to the controller.
4. Boot to the CTRL-M Utility and clear the configuration on the controller.
====================
NOTE: If multiple Adapters are in the system, make sure to clear the correct Adapter's NVRAM.
=====================
5. Shut down and connect all drives (in same configuration). Boot server until you receive an error on post: Disk/NVRAM mismatch. Enter the CTL-M Utility, accept the disk configuration through the CONFIGURE > VIEW/ADD/DELETE option.
6. Boot again to the NOS and confirm that NOTIFY CHECK CONDITION errors are no longer being logged in the NetRAID Assistant log.
7. Clear the log.

Other options: Also check that your Netraid controller firmware is up-to-date.

And that your hard drive firmware is up-to-date.

Re: Error messages from NetRaid assistant

You can find info on the sense code here http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/supporteditorial.html?prodkey=interpreting_codes
But good luck even when I have interpreted them they all seem to meen an unexpected time out of some sort which could be cause by driver, power issues, or firmware issues on the controller. So a good update of hard drive firmware, controller firmware and OS driver are always recommended.
