"An error has ocurred - no valid device were found on wich to create new filesystem. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem."

i think the HP smart array 641 controller needs a driver, then i got the disk driver cpq_cciss-2.4.48-3.rh21.i386.dd from the web page h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/19863.html but the proliant give me the same error

Re: HP PROLIANT ML 350 G3

How far along in the install (the Linux install) do you get? I just want to verify you have completed the following steps BEFORE starting the Linux install:

1. for the RBSU & set the Smart Array 641 as the boot controller.

2. Then on reboot, for ORCA (Option Rom Configuration for Arrays). Configure a RAID array here.

3. Begin the Linux install. How are you trying to install - booting directly from the Red Hat CD?
It just doesn't get any better then this

Until disk Partitioning setup

I just want to verify you have completed the following steps BEFORE starting the Linux install:

yes

1. for the RBSU & set the Smart Array 641 as the boot controller.

Done

2. Then on reboot, for ORCA (Option Rom Configuration for Arrays). Configure a RAID array here.

Done

3. Begin the Linux install. How are you trying to install - booting directly from the Red Hat CD?

Yes

I done again the three steps but i get the same problem.

I have another Proliant ML 370 G2 with Red Hat AS 2.1 and oracle 9i , it was installed without problems.

Re: HP PROLIANT ML 350 G3

Let me back up again here.

1. What SmartStart CD version do you have?

2. What happens if you boot first from SmartStart, select the OS, then put in the Linux 2.1 Enterprise CD when prompted for OS CD?
It just doesn't get any better then this

Re: HP PROLIANT ML 350 G3

Hi Marco,

I have exactly the same problem but with ML310. We have tried this with red hat 7.2/7.3 too for which the official support exists from HP.

We have also tried getting update disk for Anaconda from Red Hat website but to no avail.

I think the problem lies with the SA642 since it's a 64Bit PCI card. There is such issue with SA532 (32 bit PCI card) but unfortunately the SA532 is now absolete.

if someone from HP is listening please help us out ...
