Important COM2 Question
My predecessor installed an internal modem on an HP server loaded with SCO UNIX OpenServer 5.0.5. This server houses a MAS90 accounting database which communicates directly with a Point of Sale server in a restaurant environment through a serial connection to COM1. Because the server was open an upgrade was being performed, we used this opportunity to remove the unused modem and removed the related tty3a info. Now the two servers do not communicate. The old admin says that HP's COM2 is not used for serial communication but for management of the server and he installed the modem to fool the system. I make no sense of this, can anyone help? I will answer all that I can as far as details are concerned.

Re: Important COM2 Question
Can you please specify which server you are talking about? I sounds more like a Netserver to me. In that case I'm afraid you posted the question in the wrong forum.
