LC2 Netserver, RAID Controller

Hi,

I have an LC2 as a test station but I want to add a netraid card and also load windows 2000. I see from the HP site that the recommended cards for the machine do not support 2000. Please help as I do not want to waste money. Any help appreciated.

Hi Monty,

The following Netraid controllers are supported in this machine
1. Netraid classic
2. Netraid 1
3. Netraid 1Si
4. Netraid 3Si

Infact, Netraid classic and Netraid 1 are pritty old raid controllers and do not support windows 2000. But you can use the Netraid 1Si or Netraid 3Si card.

Note :
The recommended slot for both Netraid 1Si and Netraid 3Si is SLOT 5, so make sure you have the raid controller goes in SLOT 5

Windows 2000 is certified by HP to run in this server (LH II) according to this documentation

Thanks for reply but doesn't the following artcle say that the old cards should work but HP will not support them or they just do not work altogether?

I am a little perplexed with this and new to RAID controllers but would like to know more.

Hi Monty,

The link you have refered gives an explanation on why the RAID controllers Netrad and Netraid 1 are not working with Windows 2000.

But still you can use Netraid 1Si or Netraid 3Si which are bothe supported on windows 2000.
