Netserver E45 CPU Upgrade
However, after setting the switches and swapping the proceesor, I get the error, "0B00-0A Missing Microcode update clock for Pentium II CPU."
The latest BIOS listed for this machine is Version 4.07.05
Has anyone succesfully upgraded the Netserver E45 to run the 333 Mhz processor? Could the BIOS for the E50 be loaded?
Thanks!

"0B00-0A Missing Microcode update clock for Pentium II CPU"
I wouldn't hope that the 333 Mhz processor would work if the dip switch settings for it weren't imprinted on the mother board.
My next thought is to clear the CMOS, then re-do the BIOS.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for the response!

Re: Netserver E45 CPU Upgrade
For every stepping (6.5.0 / 6.5.1 ....) of a CPU Intel creates a CPU-Microcode. This microcode must be included in the BIOS by the vendor of the PC. HP has not done this for CPU's with the stepping 6.5.1. (PII 333MHz) in the BIOS for the Netserver 45!
There is no chance to include the needed code in the BIOS by your self - you have to ask HP for a realy good BIOS - do they have one? But you can install the code temporary with the tool "checkup5" and the code file "pep.dat" or "06510140.BIN" - with DOS only.

Re: Netserver E45 CPU Upgrade
The 333Mhz processor is not one HP ever supported for this server. It isn't that they are "sloppy", it's that you are using a processor they never intended for use in their server. This means they never wrote the BIOS to support it.
You could try the last posters method, but if it really concerns you, switch back to the old processor.
