I currently have an HP netserver LH3 and i want to upgrade it to an LH4 with the xeon processors and everything. Can I just buy the processor board and swap it out, or is there something more to it? I would like to purchase something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=71512&item=5733907876&rd=1 but need to know if it would work before I bought it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Solution
hi, most parts are the same.
You would need the different metalwork with the processor board and they have different fans and memory extender boards aswell. The memory is different aswell and needs to installed in quads. The lh4 also needs 3psu to run the xeon processors and has more VRM's as standard.
A single processor option would require 3 vrm's and the third psu. The other boards are the same so could technically do it, but may be more expensive than buying a whole second user lh4 if you had to but all the other parts.
you would need at leastare
processor board and metalwork
fans
cpu's and vrm
2x secondry vrm's
1x psu
2x memory boards
1x quad of memory
I think thats it and hope it helps you slightly.

or general info from HP's main support website.
