Proliant ML370 G5 expanding array (p400/256)
I seem to be having a little bit of a problem.
I have a Proliant ML370 G5 base server, it came with the P400/256 controller...no BBWC
After installing Netware 6.5 and running some tests i wanted to install and new SAS drive and expand the array to simulate something that happening in our work environment.
When booting up with the lastest smart start cd and going into the ACU and highlighting my Smart Array controller and clicking the "Controller settings" in the right hand menu I do not get the Expand array option showing up.
Anyone have the proper steps to do this or what I am missing for parts or up grades (do i need the p400/512)?
I have downloaded the manuals on my array card and the smart start manual. My main goal is to perform an array expansion with the smart start cd NOT and online expansion.
Cheers and lets get the ball rolling :-)

Re: Proliant ML370 G5 expanding array (p400/256)
I've got the same issue going on, how to add a drive to an excisting RAID 5 array on the P400.
Have you been able to expand yours yet?
Thanks
Simon

Re: Proliant ML370 G5 expanding array (p400/256)
here the product i needed to buy for the P400/256
512Mb Battery-backed Write Cache Upgrade: 405148-B21
After i installed this, I then booted up with the smart start cd and with my new hard drive added and the option to expand the array was there...
Good luck Cheers

Re: Proliant ML370 G5 expanding array (p400/256)
"For Smart Array P400 Controller only. If you install the 512MB DDR BBWC as an upgrade to a Smart Array P400/256MB Controller, you must also order part 417836-B21 (HP Smart Array P400 24 Inch Battery Cable Kit)."
